Opening external links via the Facebook app sometimes is tricky. We tell you how to open links externally.
That moment when you’re browsing the Facebook App, see an interesting article and click on it – but a suspicious ad pops up. And you can’t get rid of it, you have to shut down the whole app. Or worse, you even have to restart your phone. Sucks! Why does that happen? Because the Facebook Apps tries to open your website with its own browser.
That’s a common problem
This pop up is an ad by criminals, who manipulated web ads.
What can you do to prevent that?
- Open your Facebook app
- Tap the menu button (the three horizontal lines on the far right)
- Scroll down and click App Settings
- Look for the “Always open links with external browser” option
- Check the box next to it
